Life is full of changes. One day, things seem stable, and the next, everything shifts—jobs change, relationships evolve, and the world around us feels unpredictable. In times like these, we crave something steady, something that won’t shift with the tide.

Many people look for stability in success, relationships, or personal growth. While these are valuable, they don’t fully provide the lasting security we need.

A Steady Foundation in an Unstable World

At first glance, Scripture may seem to present conflicting ideas about God's nature. Some passages describe Him as "relenting," "regretting," or even "changing His mind." We see moments where He grieves (Genesis 6:6) or holds back judgment (Exodus 32:14). Yet, other verses, like Psalm 102:26-27, declare, “You are the same, and Your years will have no end.” So, how do we reconcile these accounts?

The key lies in understanding the difference between God’s unchanging nature and His dynamic relationship with humanity. Just as a loving parent adjusts their approach to guide and nurture their child, God engages with His people—not out of inconsistency, but out of deep investment in His creation.

Yet, God’s nature, including His holiness, love, and justice, remains constant and unchanging.

In His mercy, He responds to human actions, prayers, and repentance. This isn’t a sign of indecision but rather the perfect balance of justice and grace. Having said this, His unchanging character assures us that His responses are always rooted in righteousness.

  • His love never changes. No matter what happens, His love remains constant and unwavering.

  • His grace is always available. He offers forgiveness, renewal, and strength to those who turn to Him.

  • His power and strength never fade. When we lean on Him, He gives us the strength to overcome any challenge.

  • His faithfulness turns pain into purpose. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “All things work together for good to those who love God.”

  • His heart for justice never wavers. He calls us to love others, seek righteousness, and see every person as created in His image.

God’s unchanging nature isn’t about rigid rules—though He calls us to obedience—it’s about the security of something greater than the chaos around us. It’s about a love that isn’t fickle, a purpose that doesn’t waver, and a truth that isn’t dependent on trends or opinions.

A Hope That Stands the Test of Time

Jesus spoke of a life built on a solid foundation—one that could withstand storms and uncertainty (Matthew 7:24-27). In a world that constantly shifts, when we stand on His unchanging truth, perspective, and promises, we will remain firm. Even when the future is uncertain, God is still working for our good. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us:

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”

No trial, pain, or challenge is wasted in God’s hands. The cross itself is proof that He can turn the greatest suffering into the greatest redemption.

Are there parts of our life built on shaky ground instead of God’s solid truth? If so, we can take a step toward Him by letting go of our worries, doubts, and fears in prayer. By seeking His wisdom in Scripture, growing in our relationship with Jesus, trusting His promises, and staying connected to a faith-filled community, we can build our lives on the firm foundation of His unchanging truth.

The Best is Yet to Come

John Piper once said, “In Christ, it is only a matter of time until it is only joy.” For those who follow Jesus, the best is always yet to come—not just in this life, but in eternity, where true joy will be complete.

When we rest in Him, we find unshakable peace, joy, and hope. And with that foundation, we can step forward to do good, bring justice, and fulfill His purpose in the world. But more than anything, we hold onto the promise of the joy that awaits us in eternity—where our relationship with the Father will be perfect and whole. No more confusion, no more striving; only pure, unending joy in the presence of our Holy Creator.

What Does This Mean for Us?

If you’re searching for something unshakable, remember that faith isn’t about blind belief, nor is it about a perfectly clear path without questions or uncertainties. Instead, it’s about discovering the deep knowledge and wisdom found in Scripture and experiencing a true relationship with Jesus—a firm foundation of truth where God walks alongside us through every step of the journey. It’s about resting in the trust that one day, faith will be sight.

The foundation of God’s truth never fades, never wavers, and never becomes irrelevant; it remains steadfast through every season of life and in every generation. His nature is unchanging, yet He intimately engages with us. He hears our prayers, responds to our repentance, and lovingly leads His people. Far from being distant or inconsistent, He is a living, active, and relational God—always faithful, always loving, always just, and always waiting for us to return to Him. He created you, He created me, and His greatest desire is for us to belong fully to Him.

Whether or not you consider yourself a person of faith, this invitation is open to all: Imagine what it would mean to build your life on an unchanging yet deeply personal God—one whose love never fails and whose faithfulness knows no limits.

It sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But what if I told you—it’s real?
